Sales
The majority of our inventory consists of high-quality, pre-owned commercial coffee equipment. Every piece we offer goes through a full service and inspection process before it’s made available for purchase. Our espresso machines and brewers must also pass our 72-Hour Bench Rule—they’re required to run on our test bench for a minimum of three uninterrupted days without any issues. If a problem appears, the clock resets, and we address the issue before testing again.
We take these extra steps to minimize surprises and ensure that every customer receives equipment they can rely on from day one.
Delivery
We offer convenient delivery services to most locations throughout the Midwest. In general, we deliver anywhere within about eight hours of Kansas City. If you’re located outside that radius, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re always happy to see if we can come up with a creative solution that works for you.
Installation
We highly recommend that all customers take advantage of our professional installation services. While installation isn’t required, choosing to install the equipment yourself will void our 60-day warranty. This isn’t meant to be a hassle — it’s simply because we can’t guarantee the equipment won’t be damaged during an installation we weren’t present for.
By allowing us to handle the installation, we can ensure everything is set up correctly, safely, and according to manufacturer standards. It protects your investment, prevents avoidable issues, and helps you get the best performance from your equipment right from the start.
Staff Training
Training staff can be one of the biggest stressors for shop owners—especially when you feel like your own experience or knowledge is still growing. No worries at all. We offer hands-on training, usually scheduled right after installation, for owners, managers, and baristas.
During this session, we cover everything your team needs to feel confident behind the bar: an introduction to the equipment, espresso fundamentals, how to dial in espresso, programming volumetrics, milk-steaming basics, and simple preventative maintenance.
You won’t walk out of this training as a seasoned barista, but you will walk away with the knowledge on how to make great beverages, troubleshoot common issues, and properly care for the equipment you’ve invested in. It’s all about helping your team feel capable, confident, and ready for success.
Routine Maintenance
We’re big believers in being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to caring for your equipment. One of the smartest money-saving moves a shop owner can make is investing in regular preventative maintenance. Our comprehensive maintenance service covers all major components of your equipment, checks that your water quality is where it needs to be, and helps catch small issues long before they turn into costly problems that could shut you down for days.
To set you up for success from the start, we typically schedule your first maintenance appointment on the day of installation. It’s an easy way to keep your equipment running smoothly and protect your investment for the long haul.
Service
Sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, equipment issues can arise. While Horse Trader is primarily an equipment sales company, we do offer limited on-site service support. You’re also welcome to drop off equipment at our shop for service.
If you run into a problem, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll do our best to help get you back up and running as quickly as possible, minimizing downtime and keeping your shop flowing smoothly.
